PaperHaus Blog Hop: Celebrating The Winter Issue

Hi everyone. Welcome! Have you seen the gorgeous new issue of PaperHaus magazine? It's a thing of beauty, I tell you. And it's free!  Here's the link: PaperHaus Magazine Winter Issue

Isn't the cover pretty?

Inside you'll find a variety of winter and holiday projects in every style.

The contributors have been celebrating the new issue with a blog hop each day, these first 12 days of December.  Here we are at Day 11.  Each day's hop is really short, about 4 blogs.  We'd love to have you join us!  Leave a comment on each blog to be eligible for prizes from our sponsors. You won't believe how generous they are! I'm delighted to contribute to this magazine.

Today, I am sharing a holiday layout that documents that time-honored tradition: picking out the Christmas tree. Our family goes to to a nearby tree farm each year, we pick our tree, cut it down, haul it home and decorate.

I primarily used Little Yellow Bicycle's Fern and Forest collection for this layout. It isn't a traditional holiday line but the colors were just right.

On the left, I embellished the page. On the right, I arranged the photos down the side to tell the story: arriving, cutting, hauling and decorating. There's a tag under the main photo for journaling.

If you're following along for the hop, you should have arrived here from Cassie's blog.  The next stop is Amazing Mold Putty.

If you want to check out the blog hop from the previous days, go to PaperHaus for all the scoop!

Thanks for stopping by. I'll be back on Friday with another holiday project.

  1. Love your layout! Picking out the tree is such a wonderful tradition! We have gone with a fake tree for a few years but this year we are getting a real tree again! YAY! Can't wait to go pick it out and bring it home to decorate! I think we are going to let the grandchildren decorate the whole tree this year! It will be so much fun watching them pick out where to put each decoration! TFS!

  10. That's one thing I truly love about Christmas is all the traditions that are passed down through the generations! Your Christmas tree layout is adorable! I like that you include more than one photo on your layout as it tells a story. Thanks for sharing! Wishing you and yours all the best this holiday season! :)

  18. what a lovely story to put down in a loyout. Alas, in the UK, we tend to mostly use artificial trees instead - well, at least they last longer, meaning it's more sustainable... however - there is a lot to be said about going to fetch your own and making it a little family tradition - how lovely!!!

Thanks for sharing your lovely work

  24. Love reading about the different tradtions around the world. Me living close to the Polar Circle far up north on the map, am used to a different kind of pine tree than you seem to have over there. Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without the scent of a real tree! Really really like that you've used multiple photos telling a story. Perfect colours and I of course got to love that cute little house! xoxo

  25. I grew up with the tradition of going to the woods with my dad and cutting down the Christmas tree, then we did the same with our children. It was nice to see your tradition on your page and have fond memories of my own times.
